IN WHAT has been the best cross country campaign for Burnham Joggers in years, both the men’s and ladies’ teams have finished in eighth place overall out of 15 sides.

The position may have been the same as in recent years, but was impressive as the team finishes for the ladies at Sandhurst (fifth place), Handy Cross (sixth) and Tadley (fifth). The men’s best positions were at Datchet, Handy Cross and Metros (all seventh) and Tadley (fifth).

Nigel Sullivan and Claire Pusey won the men’s and ladies’ club cross country titles. Sullivan came 12th and 16th in his final two races, while Pusey was third, fourth and twice fifth in the final four races. It was a great comeback for Pusey given that she has been away from running for a few years.

Four club members completed all seven races: Pusey, Ben Schiffer-Harte, Richard Coleman and Bob Hardman, while 11 other members completed the five minimum races to receive the end of season award.

Overall 50 individual runners took part in at least one race, and the season-opener hosted by Datchet Dashers in November proved to be the most popular with 36 turning up to score in the first Club Championship race of 2015/16.
