MARK Tallentire has resigned as manager of Burnham after amidst rumours of more budget cuts at the cash-strapped Southern League club.

Tallentire was appointed Blues boss in May as part of a new club structure but lasted only nine matches, three of which resulted in wins.

He leaves his post following a 3-0 win against Slough Town in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup first round on Tuesday evening.

Tre Mitford was the star on show at Holloways Park as his first-half hat-trick dumped The Rebels out of the county cup at the first hurdle.

Mitford opened the scoring inside six minutes when he showed composure to latch onto a good through pass and slide the ball past Luke Williams in the Rebels goal.

The lead was doubled in the 28th minute as Mitford met a cross to prod home following good work down the right from Kane Jones.

Mitford completed his hat-trick a minute before half-time, converting a cross from the right with a side-footed volley.

Burnham could have rubbed salt into Rebels’ wounds when a penalty was awarded for a trip on John Bennett in the final minute of normal time.

However, Williams spared Slough further agony with a smart diving save to his left to deny Blues captain Carl Davies.

Rebels joint-boss Neil Baker tweeted: “Fuming about the performance in county cup, people who played thought they could just turn up and some very poor performances.”

Burnham star Jones posted: “Still got a long way to go in terms of fitness but to say I’m over the moon would be an understatement.

“Shame that it ended on a sour note, sad to see Mark go, been a pleasure. You’re a top manager and I wish you all the best for the future.”

Slough will bid to put this defeat behind them quickly when they travel to Dorking Wanderers in an FA Cup first qualifying round tie on Saturday (3pm).

Manager-less Burnham return to action in Southern League Division One South & West and a trip south to Taunton Town (3pm).

A late equaliser for 10-man Knaphill saw Windsor make do with a 2-2 draw and a point from their visit to Redding Way in the Combined Counties Premier Division.

Jason Sheehan gave Windsor the lead midway through the first half, but Mark Watkins levelled the scores on 37 minutes.

An own goal put the away team back in front early the second period but, despite Josh Cooke seeing red, Steve Brown rattled the post before Josh Watkins made it 2-2 in the 84th minute.

Windsor welcome Chertsey Town to Stag Meadow this Saturday (3pm) before a debut in this season’s Premier Challenge Cup and a home first round tie against Colliers Wood United next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Holyport bowed out of the FA Vase following a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Abbey Rangers in a first qualifying round replay at Summerleaze.

Ryan Thorpe broke the deadlock on six minutes when he tickled the ball home after good work from Mike Carey.

Rangers’ advantage was doubled on 16 minutes as Paul Hodges was allowed a clear run at goal and slotted home from a Tom Bentley free-kick.

The tie was put to bed moments before the half-time interval when Hodges broke free and slotted past the advancing keeper.

The Ports night got worse in the 68th minute as Thorpey fired home is second goal following good work from Robbie Kersley.

However, Ben Wall salvaged some pride for the hosts when his pulled a goal back 10 minutes from the final whistle.

Holyport are not in action again until September 19 when they travel to Woodley United for a Hellenic League Division One East fixture (3pm).
