BURNHAM are starring down the barrel at relegation this season after a 5-0 defeat against Evesham United at The Gore on Saturday.
The Blues have failed to build on a recent win over AFC Totton and are now five points from safety with three matches remaining in Southern Division One South & West.
The opening goal came from the penalty spot after four minutes when Joe Jarra was sent off for being the last man in a reckless tackle on Carl Brown. Evesham top scorer Adam Mann netted the resulting spot-kick.
On seven minutes the advantage was doubled as Brown back-heeled the ball into the net after great work from Jacob Sloggett.
There was a third goal on 13 minutes. Good link-up play between Clayton Green and Karnell Chambers set up Mann for his second.
It was four on the stroke of half-time when Matt Sysum scored a trademark header at the far post.
The second-half remained low key for Evesham until the final few minutes when Mann grabbed an assist in in setting up Brown for a fine strike.
Mann even missed a second penalty, saved by the Burnham keeper in injury time, to deny himself a hat-trick.
Burnham travel to bottom-of-the-table and already relegated Bashley on Saturday (3pm), whilst fellow strugglers Wantage Town are at home to Bishops Cleeve.
Maidenhead United suffered a blow in the race for the National South play-offs this season after a 1-0 defeat against St Albans City at York Road.
In the Combined Counties Premier Division, Windsor drew 1-1 away at Sutton Common Rovers.
