JAMIE Jarvis is looking for his Burnham side to go on another winning streak after they bounced back from their first defeat in 11 games during the week.

Burnham were back on track on Tuesday night in the Southern League Division One Midlands as they triumphed 1-0 at Barton Rovers.

"I'm happy with the win and the cleansheet," commented Jarvis. "Bouncing back is always good and hopefully we can go on another roll now to stay up there."

The hosts are cut adrift at the bottom of the division along with Aylesbury United but they belied their lowly position to put in an excellent display against the league leaders.

It took a stunning strike from Ryan Bird in the 28th minute to settle matters as the league leaders stayed ahead of Hitchin Town whose match at Rothwell Town was abandoned after 86 minutes due to floodlight failure with the scores goalless.

"I don't get how they can replay the game after 87 minutes but it hasn't got anything to do with me, I've just got to keep my house in order," remarked Jarvis. "It does mean that they've got another game to play so they have 12 in four weeks but we've just got 10."

The fantastic run of 10 straight victories for Burnham came to an end on Saturday as they lost 2-1 at home to AFC Sudbury.

Sudbury had failed to win in their five previous games so it came as a shock but Jamie Jarvis' sides have struggled against teams in the lower half of the table.

"We didn't play our best," admitted the Blues supremo. "But we still created enough chances to win the game by far, hit the post and bar."

It was a good defensive display that ended Burnham's run and Sudbury took the lead in the 13th minute when Daniel Emmanuel's shot deflected in off Will Dunlop.

Adrian Sear should have equalised but missed with a free header, however, he did net in the 76th minute powerfully finishing Terry O'Connor's cross.

A short back pass from the otherwise impressive Stuart Swift then gifted substitute Rhys Darg with the winner six minutes from time.

Next up for Burnham is a home match with title rivals Bury Town tomorrow (Saturday) and then they host Atherstone Town on Tuesday night.

"It happens, in this run we've played teams who have defended with 11 men, I cannot wait to take on one of the top teams who might come and have a go against us," said Jarvis.

"I'm looking forward to Saturday, it should be a good game. Dennis (Fenemore) was rested last (Tuesday) night but everybody should be okay."
