CLUBS in the Thames Valley Cricket League were left frustrated on Saturday after rain swept across Berkshire to force the abandonment of many of the round three fixtures.

Wet weather meant that all bar one of the Division Two matches failed to reach a finish, including the game between Hurst and Slough 2nds.

Slough had reduced their hosts to 147-6 after 42 overs before rain stopped play at Hurst Lodge.

Naveed Akhtar (2-34) and Yaqoot Rafiq (3-37) led the Slough bowling attack while Usman Ijaz finished unbeaten on 79 for Hurst.

Obaid Sarwar (45) and Naveed Bashir (24) helped Burnham 2nds to 121-6 from 32 overs before the visit of Thatcham Town was cut short. Steven Bartholomew took 3-27 for the away team.

In Division 2A, Maidenhead & Bray had restricted Kidmore End to 129-5 before rain came at The Hamlet.

Henry Grover (3-41) and skipper Brett Van Niekerk (2-13) shared the wickets, whilst Joe Waldron made 45 for Kidmore.
