BURNHAM have suffered back-to-back defeats in Home Counties Division One after a three-wicket loss to Oxford at the Memorial Ground on Saturday.

Oxford won the toss and invited the home side to bat first, bowling them out for 210 in 56 overs. Samad Fallah was the chief destroyer with his five-wicket haul (5-80), with other wickets falling to Harvey Eltham (3-56), Richard Musk (1-16) and Shamilal Mendis (1-22).

Adnan Malik was the leading run scorer for Burnham, finishing unbeaten on 51 whilst Sulaiman Javed added 39 and Muhammed Haroon (26).

In response, Oxford reached 214-7 in 50.4 overs for the win thanks to captain John Barratt (69) and Mendis (54).

Haroon (3-55) and Aftab Khan (3-98) led the Burnham bowling attack with three wickets apiece, but only Mohammed Faisal Khalid (1-24) could also claim a wicket.

The defeat sees Burnham fall to seventh in the league table with a trip to Tring Park on Saturday.

DATCHET have extended their unbeaten run in Home Counties Division Two to five matches following a draw with Chesham at the Wally Gage Memorial Ground on Saturday.

Chesham won the toss and elected to bat first, taking full advantage to set an imposing 336-7 declared after 55 overs. Alex Morgan top-scored with a century (102) and their were half-centuries for fellow opener Matthew Rance (50) and number three Luke Webb (53).

James Rogers was the pick of the Datchet bowlers with his figures of 3-64, backed up by Samuel Finn (2-33) and Tom Lambert (2-86).

In response, the home side closed on 163-8 after 63 overs for a share of the points. Lewis Smith (51) and Anthony Moorthoti (50) were the leading run scorers.

Rance led the Chesham bowling attack with his five-wicket haul (5-64) off 25 overs. The other wickets fell to Pip France (2-42) and Jack Maciver (1-13).

Datchet, now fifth in the league table, are away to bottom side Reading this Saturday.
