THE tremendous amount of young talent at Slough Cricket Club was again highlighted on Sunday.

Their under-17 and under-13 teams were both successful when the Berkshire Youth Cricket League held their Division One finals at at the Upton Court Road ground.

In the older age group final, a strong Slough side were restricted to 108-6 in their 20 overs, but that modest total was still sufficient as some excellent bowling saw them reduce Maidenhead & Bray to 85-7 for a 22-run victory.

For Slough, Sulaiman Akhtar made 31 runs, James Harris 27 and Hamza Arif 26.

Sheridan Gumbs also played in that game having earlier skippered Slough to victory at U13 level.

The new Bradfield College student scored 25 and Vinus Chaudhary 29* in a total of 101-5 as they replied to Royal Ascot’s 98-8.

Six of those eight wickets fell to run-outs with the Slough youngsters always looking sharp in the field.

In the two other finals played last weekend, Finchampstead (134-4) defeated Henley (93-9) at U15 level, while the U11 game saw Cookham Dean make 113-6 before bowling out East Woodhay for just 43.
