MERRYMAKERS Old Boys have made progress in the Berks & Bucks Sunday Intermediate Cup this season after a 2-1 win away at Windsor Warriors.

The wet weather did not stop the two Thames Valley Sunday Football League sides from going head-to-head, and credit to both sides for the performance put in a very entertaining fourth round tie at The York Club.

Merrymakers took the lead in the 10th minute when Liam Connor raced onto a pass and clipped the ball over the Windsor keeper.

The game was end-to-end with both keepers making fine saves, and both defences standing strong after the interval.

The second half started in the same fashion as both sides really went for the win.

Merrymakers failed to take their chances and Windsor capitalised the level the scores with an unstoppable strike on 80 minutes.

But, with just minutes remaining, a great pass from James Clark found Connor and he slotted the ball past the keeper to send Merrymakers into the quarter-finals.

AFC Phoenix (Plough) remain in the promotion race from Thames Valley Division One after a 4-1 win against Pinkneys Green at Oaken Grove.

In Division Two, second-placed Maidenhead Crown thrashed FC Clewer 7-1.
