SHEPHERDS Hut have made a losing start to the New Year after a 4-2 home defeat to Maidenhead Crown on Sunday.

The result puts Maidenhead on top of the Division Two table, ahead of John 86 whose match was postponed, whilst The Hut remain in seventh position.

After pressure on the Hut goal, the visitors took the lead when a forward tapped the ball past man-of-the-match Casey Harris from a corner kick.

Maidenhead doubled their lead before half time as a free-kick deflected under the wall to beat keeper Harris.

The second half saw a much improved performance from Shepherds Hut and the influential Jake Quantrill started to turn the game in their favour.

Quantrill soon found Kelly, who fired home to reduce the deficit.

The next goal was going to be crucial and, after Greg Sanderson cleared two balls of the line, he gave it away cheaply on the edge of the area for a Crown midfielder to scuff a shot past Harris.

Maidenhead then added a fourth goal despite The Hut moving forward.

Kelly doubled his own tally for the match after another Quantrill assist, before Shepherds Hut were denied a late penalty which, if converted, would have made for an interesting last 10 minutes.

Merrymakers Old Boys are through to their fourth quarter-final of the season after a 6-0 victory over Swans in the Tony Blay Memorial Trophy.

The Old Boys dominated from start to finish and scored some decent goals at Kedermister Park.

James Clark was the star on show with four goals, whilst James Donovan and Liam Connor both scored one each.

Real Milan remain on course to defend the Ken Gomm Challenge Cup this season after an 8-3 win against Chalvey (WMC) Sports in round three.

Milan started on the front foot and were denied an early goal as Jermaine Payne slotted home, but his effort was ruled out for an infringement in the build-up.

As the home side failed to convert their chances, Chalvey capitalised to take the lead. Matt Blakey scored from an unlikely source as his cross ended up beating keeper Lee Bennett on the line and bounced in off the crossbar.

Real Milan soon raised their game and it was not long before they equalised.

Winger Clavin Morgan was on hand to head home a corner by Owen Richardson.

The home team took the lead just before half time when Daniel Sharp put through Richardson, who took a great touch before firing into the bottom corner.

Milan made it 3-1 early in the second period as debutante Conrad Joseph put through Sharp, who broke into the box and slotted home with his left foot.

The hosts were now getting ahead of steam and added a fourth goal when captain Riccardo Cannon put through Nash Mohammed, who made no mistake and coolly scored past the hapless Chalvey keeper.

Substitute Amin Khomsi added the fifth goal from the penalty spot after Cannon was brought down inside the box by the Chalvey stopper.

Five became six when Sharp grabbed his second of the match, again slotting home with his left foot.

Real Milan were not finished there as substitute Mo Shariff got in on the act when he was set up by Morgan. Shariff beat three men before whipping a powerful shot into the bottom corner.

Despite already scoring seven goals, Milan pushed on for more and Cheyenne Cripps was on target with a composed and cool finish after good work from Mohammed.

Real Milan did have some late lapses in concentration and Chalvey scored two goals late on.
