THERE was to be no repeat cup upset for Maidenhead United over rival club Woking this season after a crushing 6-1 defeat in the FA Trophy second round.

Maidenhead eliminated Woking from the FA Cup back in October, but the National Premier side exacted revenge on Saturday with a comfortable win at the Kingfield Stadium.

Dave Tarpey put the visitors ahead after 30 minutes and they held onto the advantage until the half-time interval.

Guiseppe Sole equalised for Woking two minutes into the second period, before Keiran Murtagh put the home side in front on the hour mark.

Murtagh doubled his own tally for the match on 66 minutes, and the tie was over as a contest when Alan Massey put the ball into his own net in the 79th minute.

Joe Quigley made it five with six minutes remaining before Chris Arthur put the icing on the cake for Woking with a sixth goal in time added on.

Maidenhead return to action in National South with a visit to York Road from Dartford next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Troubled Burnham are now 10 matches without a win in Southern Division One South & West following a 5-3 defeat away at Shortwood United.

Marley Thomas and Nick Humphreys were on target as Shortwood took a clear lead into half-time at the Meadowbank Ground.

Burnham pulled a goal back early in the second half but Will Morford restored the home side’s two-goal advantage in the 51st minute.

Blues responded again on 64 minutes, but Jake Lee cancelled out the goal seconds later, and Martyn Pearce scored the last of the eight goals in the 79th minute.

Burnham are away to Didcot Town next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Windsor suffered a third straight loss in the Combined Counties Premier Division after a 2-1 defeat at Badshot Lea.

New gave Badshot the lead inside 60 seconds at the Shawfield Stadium.

Stephane Deed levelled for Windsor with nine minutes remaining but, in the sixth minute of time added on, the home side stole all three points when Darren Blake found the target.

Windsor begin their defence of the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy with a quarter-finals tie against Newport Pagnell Town at Stag Meadow next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Slough Town saw their Southern Premier Division fixture away at Cirencester Town postponed due to a frozen pitch at the Corinium Stadium.

The Rebels are in Southern League Cup third round action next Tuesday (7.45pm), away to Potters Bar Town.

The Hellenic Division One East fixture between Holyport and Old Woodstock Town was postponed at Summerleaze.
