SHEPHERDS Hut have suffered defeat in the Eton Wick derby against rivals Eton Rifles, losing 4-3 in Thames Valley Division Two on Sunday.

Eton dominated the first 20 minutes and only the excellent Casey Harris kept Shepherds Hut in the game.

After the Rifles winger beat Cameron Nealon out wide he then placed the ball into the top corner to break the deadlock.

This spurred The Hut into life and they hit the crossbar through Jake Quantrill, before a corner was headed back across goal, then again by Craig Kelly for Quantrill to level the scores.

The Hut continued with their momentum and a well worked corner saw Ollier Doore arrive at the back post to dispatch with a flying left-foot half-volley.

In the second half, Eton started to create chances and a speculative effort hit Nealon and looped over Harris.

Shortly after, a Rifles centre forward backed into Doore and the referee awarded a penalty which put them 3-2 ahead.

The goal of the game came moments later from man-of-the-match Luke Foggarty, who picked up the ball on the wing, cut into the middle of the park and blasted into the top corner from 30-yards.

An unusual mistake from Tom Horn led to the final and winning goal for Eton.

He tried to play out from the back and misplaced his pass on the edge of the 18-yard box, which a Rifles player hammered home.

Maidenhead Town Reserves have made it 10 matches unbeaten in East Berkshire Division Three after a 2-0 win against Langley Eagles on Saturday.

Town notched up a ninth win from 10 games and remain on course for the title with a six-point gap ahead of the chasing pack.

It was their first game in a month and the team looked to be suffering from a Christmas hangover with a lacklustre first half performance.

Chip Duncan looked dangerous going forward but Maidenhead could not create any clear-cut chances and had Rob Boden – deputising in goal – to thank as the two sides went into the break at 0-0.

The second period started in a similar fashion to the first though the breakthrough moment came when Matt Atasoy was fouled inside the box and leading scorer Steve Newell smashed home the resulting penalty.

The game was put beyond doubt when Atasoy slotted home at the back post following a cross from the left-hand side.

Maidenhead remain six points clear at the top of the table and picked up their fifth clean sheet of the season with another solid defensive display.
