CHALVEY Sports Chairman Scott Young was a happy man following his side’s ‘comfortable’ 6-0 Hellenic League Division Two East home win against Aston Clinton.

It was a third straight league victory for Sports, and was set up thanks to a bright start which saw Carlton Chisambara and Bryan Taylor put the hosts 2-0 up inside 10 minutes.

It was 4-0 midway through the half as Ayden Christian-Coomber and Michael Gaut netted, and Taylor completed a fine hat-trick with two more goals in the final 10 minutes.

Young told the Observer: “It was a comfortable win for us.

“We started on the front foot with a goal inside three minutes and played some good football, and we were four goals ahead inside 20 minutes.

“Aston Clinton never really got going, so there is not much to say other than it was a comfortable win for us.”

He continued: “We went a little bit quiet in the second half and did not keep the ball as well as we can because we were trying things that we did not need to do.

“But we played some good football and spent a lot of time in the opponents’ half. Our ‘keeper only had to make one save in each half so we had a good day and Aston Clinton did not.

“It is another clean sheet and another three points so it is good for us as well.”

Speaking about Taylor, Young added: “It is a personal milestone for Bryan, a hat-trick is always good.”

Chalvey host Oxfordshire-based Headington Amateurs in the first round of the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup this coming Saturday (3pm), with the visitors enduring a mixed start to the season.

Headington have taken just nine points from their opening eight games to sit 10th in the table, but Young is expecting a tough encounter.

He commented: “They have been in a higher division for some time and established with good league positions in recent seasons. I expect a very tough game as we found out it is a definite step up last year.

There was a definite change in the quality of opposition in the division above and we do not know much about them, but they will not know us either, so it will be an interesting game.”

He continued: “We are going to to into the game with a full-strength squad minus a centre back who got married recently and is on his honeymoon.

“We will go an give a good account of ourselves and run them close and I would back us to cause an upset.”

“We have got some big fixtures coming up in the league and cups so we will know where we are in the next four or five games.”
