SLOUGH United Reserves have reached the quarter-finals of the Berks & Bucks Sunday Junior Trophy this season after an 8-3 win against Hope & Anchor.

Joe Moore was the star on show at Farnham Park with his hat-trick, while Oscar and James Betts both scored twice, with Micah Barnes also on target in the victory.

Slough manager Simon Costello told the Observer: “The win was all down to our wingers and two front men, their movement was too much for the opposition. Their movement was out of this world and too much to handle.

“There’s still a long way to go to be fair and we take every game as it comes because we want to compete on every front.

“We targeted the competition 100 per-cent this season but we didn’t want to put too much pressure on ourselves.

“You’re in it to win it but, being the only side from Slough and representing the town, means so much more.”

Slough are currently in second place in the Division Three league table, three points behind Datchet Village 3s but with a game in hand.

Costello said: “It has been a good battle between us and Datchet. They’re feeling the pressure more because teams are gunning for them and not us.

“We want to go top at some point and are in it to win it. We will try to win as many games as we can, but there’s no pressure on me. It’s down to the players, they’re the ones that have to go and do it.”

Slough travel to Spartan Red Kites this Sunday (10.30am). Costello commented: “They’re a good friendly bunch.

“There are still 13 games to go and we’re just there to get wins under our belts. We were 14 games unbeaten when we lost to Datchet, so we’re looking to bounce back and get stronger.”
