CHALVEY Sports remain unbeaten at Arbour Park in Division Two East this season after a 3-0 win against Chalfont Wasps Reserves on Tuesday.

A goal from Jamie Earis inside seven minutes gave The Stabmonks the lead which they held heading into the half-time interval.

Captain Ryan Hazell increased the advantage with a header from a Bryan Taylor cross on 71 minutes, before the visitors were reduced to 10-men after a fracas.

Hazell secured all three points for Chalvey with his second goal, again a header from a Taylor Cross, with nine minutes still to play.

The win keeps The Stabmonks in third position in the league table, three points behind Abingdon United Development but with two matches in hand.

Chalvey manager Merv Lloyd told the Observer: “It was a good win. I’ve seen us play better but it’s all about the three points really. We didn’t play to the best of our abilities but if we keep on winning matches I can’t complain too much.

“We made a few changes to break up the monotony. We rotated the squad around because we need everyone now. We’ve got a strong bench and squad, and everyone will have to come in and prove their worth now.

“Chalfont were strong and solid but there was no threat and nothing to worry about.

“We didn’t look at our best but there were reasons for it. People have got to go to work in midweek and looked a little jaded. No-one let themselves down but I’ve seen us play better.

“It’s all about getting the ball into the back of the net and we scored three goals and kept a clean sheet.”

Chalvey enjoyed a 7-0 win against Stockenchurch on Saturday to keep them in third position in the table.

Two goals from captain Hazell, plus strikes from Taylor and Jason Marney gave The Stabmonks a clear lead at the half-time interval.

Marney and Taylor both scored again after the break, while Hazell added another to complete his hat-trick in his side’s second biggest win of the season.

Lloyd commented: “We kept our discipline and didn’t allow them to get a consolation goal.”

Chalvey are away at Virginia Water Reserves this Saturday (3pm), before visiting Chinnor Reserves next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Lloyd said: “No disrespect to this league but we need better competition to improve, but we will not know that until next season. We need to get out of this league and against stronger and better opposition in order to improve.

“We’ve just got to keep on picking up points until we win the league and deal with any banana skins as and when they come.”

On their unbeaten record at Arbour Park, he added: “It was the same format as last year when we never lost a home game.

“I can accept a loss now and again so long as we win something at the end of the season.

“We don’t want to lose any more games At the moment we’re in a strong place and pushing to win games.

“It’s good because we’re growing with confidence but if your confidence is down then that is no good. When you confidence is high you’re happy to take on anyone.

"We're more than good enough to win the league if we can keep on winning."

He continued: "Six points from the next two matches has got to be the major gameplan. No disrespect to the opposition but we should be getting three points when you look at how they're performing and where they are in the league.

"Our lads have to stay focused and crack on and if we can stay injury free it should not be a problem.

"We need all these games now to be played and out of the way to fill in the matches that we need to catch up on.

"Our defensive record speaks for itself. We've only let in seven goals and if you do score against us then you deserve it."
