THE Ascot & Maidenhead School Sport Partnership are pleased to continue their link with Magpies in the Community to deliver a School Games football competition.

Year 3/4 mixed football is part of the Berkshire School Games and 140 children, aged between seven and nine and from nine different primary schools, to part in a competition hosted at Altwood School.

Schools competed for two places at the Berkshire School Games finals at Bisham Abbey to represent the Ascot & Maidenhead School Sport Partnership.

The competition was held as part of the national School Games initiative, delivered by the Ascot & Maidenhead School Sport Partnership, where young people have the opportunity to get involved, have fun, challenge themselves, progress and ultimately compete against the best talent.

The competition was organised and delivered by Mark Nisbet and his team from Magpies in the Community, who did a fantastic job.

Thanks go to Altwood School for hosting and providing access to their fabulous astroturf, plus their excellent team of young sports leaders who helped out on the day.

Emma Fitzgerald is development manager at the Ascot & Maidenhead School Sport Partnership. She said: “It was a closely contested tournament with two qualifying spots up for grabs.

“It was great to see so many children wanting to play competitive football and, though many are still learning the game, they play with huge enthusiasm and enjoyment.
