LANGLEY have won the Slough Town Senior Cup this season after a 2-0 victory over Chalvey Sports at The Gore on Good Friday.

The deadlock was broken on 38 minutes when Ben White beat Chalvey full-back Liam Nash and found his strike partner Dean Papali, who fired past keeper Kieran Hudson and into the roof of the net.

Langley doubled their advantage 10 minutes into the second half but the goal did not come without controversy.

Hudson mis-kicked his goal-kick to Papali and Chalvey claimed that he had handled the ball, but the striker played on and crossed low to White to convert from inside six-yards.

The Stabmonks were not without chances in the final, Sean Robinson saw a header from a Ryan Hazell corner well saved by man-of-the-match Harry Cusham, and the Langley keeper also kept out Bryan Taylor when through on goal.

Langley manager John Thirkell told the Observer: "It was absolutely fantastic and I felt we deserved it.

"It was even stevens in the first half without a shadow of a doubt but we were a quality team in the second half.

"We dealt with the conditions, the back four were tremendous and our keeper was absolutely outstanding. The midfield never stopped working and we had two livewires up top.

"It was a fair result in a good game and there was plenty of support for football in Slough in the ground."

Chalvey boss Merv Lloyd added: "All the wheels fell off to be honest. I thought we would make it a bit more of a competitive game than we did but we just didn't get out of bed this morning."
