Local derbies are coming thick and fast for Slough Town, with a 'home' match against Beaconsfield SYCOB on Thursday followed by a trip to Burnham on Saturday.

The Rebels' form against their local rivals has not been great this season, with a 2-2 home draw with Burnham on the opening day and a 6-2 defeat at Windsor & Eton in October.

And Town manager Derek Sweetman is keen for his side to improve on this record: "On our day we're capable of beating anyone, we'll come out all guns blazing that's for sure.

"There's always a bit of added spice with local derbies, and with New Year's Day and the holiday period in general, there are lots of different factors. You get some strange results, even right up to Premier League, so you just never know what's going to happen until you kick-off.

"We're up against our landlords first. It's always a tough game against Beaconsfield and Thursday will be no different."

Commenting on the short trip to Burnham, he added: "Carl Taylor has come in there and all his players will be keen to prove to the new manager that they're good enough.

"But we've put in some decent performances over the last five weeks and need to reproduce that. We won't dwell on our second half performance on Saturday against Thatcham - all good sides bounce back after a defeat and we'll be looking to do the same."
