Steve Bateman.
WITH survival secured Steve Bateman denied any rumours that he was going to leave and reiterated his desire to help Slough Town move forward.
"I'll be honest, I've had questions asked of me about other situations but I came in here and would dearly love to give the supporters and the club something to smile about next season," he stated after talk of a possible move to a Southern League Premier Division club.
The ex-Slough central defender and captain is determined to help them move in the right direction, back towards where they were in his playing days in the mid-1990's.
"Slough Town is a huge club, that never been lost on me when I played here and not now I'm here as a manager," commented Bateman. "When I played Slough were at the highest level, there's a hell of a lot of work to get back to somehwere near that.
"If I can be part of the process that gets us back our standing in the non-league pyramid, we will have a really good go at that."
