THE senior knockout trophy in the Observer Industrial League was won by a team not in the top flight this season as Airport Motors beat KS Gryf 1-0 at The Gore.

Division One champions, Motors were purring throughout the game and thoroughly deserved the victory over their Premier Division opponents on Friday night.

Livewire Chris Wakefield struck in the first half and despite being in the ascendancy and having the chances to kill the match off, they did not and the Polish side remained in it, but could not force extra time.

The two teams had met in the group stages with Gryf winning one and the other being a draw but after an even start, Motors began to get on top.

See Friday's Observer for more pictures from the evening and a full report.
