SLOUGH Town under-18s got the result they needed to clinch the Allied Counties Youth Football League Central Division title on Monday night.
In their first year in the division, the young Rebels did excellently to claim promotion to the Premier Division under manager Tony Thompson and in the process some players have featured in the first team this season.
Needing a win, draw or defeat by less than three goals against championship rivals Chalfont St Peter, Slough lost 2-1 but it was good enough.
Top scorer Stan Mugisha put Slough in front and despite two second half goals from Chalfont, it was the Rebels who were celebrating in front of a large crowd at the final whistle.
Secretary of the under-18s, Barbra Stewart commented: 'I think it was a very good achievement as it was the first season we had entered the competition and even better that it was under the Slough Town umbrella.
'We hope that they can be like a feeder opportunity for the first team.'
