GOALSCORING midfielder Paul Edgeworth is excited by the prospect of trying to help Slough Town to promotion to the Southern League Premier Division.

He is one of a number of players who has experience of going up from the Midlands Division having scored the winner for Hemel Hempstead Town in the play-off final under manager Steve Bateman.

'With the players Steve (Bateman) has signed and some that he is keeping from last season hopefully we can push on and get promoted,' said Edgeworth.

'We want to get out of this league as quickly as we can.

'When I first started playing I was scoring 15/20 goals from midfield but over the last season and a half I"ve played centre-back most because of injuries to defenders. Hopefully I can regain my form and score a lot of goals for Slough.

'Watch this space and look out for us up in the play-off positions for the season,' he stated.

'Steve is a good friend of mine and when Slough switched to the Midlands Division it closed the deal for me. I"ve got a young family and want to spend as little time away from them as possible. I live in Milton Keynes so a lot of the away games are near for me,' explained Edgeworth.

'It was fairly simple to chose Slough.'

The ex-Tudors man was impressed from his first training session with the Rebels on Tuesday, he remarked: 'I didn"t expect the facilities that were there, they were excellent. It was a good first session.'
