COLIN Davis' Beaconsfield SYCOB are heading into the local derby at Burnham on Saturday in buoyant mood.
Despite having the clash with Slough Town postponed on Boxing Day, the Rams have been in form, winning two out of their last three games.
Davis and his opposite number, Jamie Jarvis go back a long way and a lot of the Blues team were part of the successful side at Beaconsfield last season under the guidance of Jarvis.
"I spoke to Jamie last night (Tuesday) and he just wants the game to go ahead and so do I," said Davis. "He has no bad feelings towards the club and wants Beaconsfield to do well but he really needs a win for his own reasons at the top of the table.
"I go back a long way with Jamie and no matter what the result we will have a drink after the game to celebrate the New Year.
"It's going to be an interesting game but I'm confident going into it and the lads are up for it."
He added: "Hopefully I would have signed two more players before the weekend but one definitely won't be available because he is ill in bed.
"Machalai Bully from Ashford Town (Middlesex) and Rhys Price - they've both got legs, are quite physical and can play football. This isn't a league where much football gets played but if you can, then you can create something."
Burnham go into the game in mixed form with two postponed games, three excellent victories and two disappointing defeats in their last eight games and boss Jarvis commented: "We just want to get it on and play a game.
"I know Colin and (assistant manger) Wilko (Darron Wilkinson) and hope they do well. I said to him I hope we get six points off them but I want Beaconsfield to climb the table."
