EXCITEMENT grew ahead of the 2012/13 football season on Friday when the early rounds of the FA Cup, FA Carlsberg Trophy and FA Vase were drawn at the Football Association's headquarters in Wembley.

Slough Town - many people's fancies to lift the Southern Division One Central title this year - will begin their FA Cup campaign with a preliminary round home tie against either Corinthian of the Kent Premier Division or Croydon of the Combined Counties Premier on Saturday August 25.

Beaconsfield SYCOB - denied promotion to the Southern Premier last year after defeat in the play-off final - travel to Berkshire rivals Hungerford Town while Burnham travel to Bourne Park to take on Sittingbourne.

Holyport and Windsor - both playing in step five of the English football pyramid - begin their cup ventures in the extra preliminary round on August 11.

The Villagers are away at fellow Hellenic Premier outfit Ardley United and Windsor are away Flackwell Heath.

Over £2,000 is up for grabs in the preliminary round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy (September 15 and 16) where Slough take on Hungerford and Beaconsfield welcome Poole Town of Southern Division One South & West.

Burnham, however, begin their Trophy run in the first qualifying round on September 29 with a visit from either Chisptead or Waltham Abbey of the Isthmian Leagues.

Holyport's FA Vase action begins in the second qualifying round on September 15 with a visit from Winslow United of the Spartan South Midlands League.

The winners will host either Newbury or Lydney Town in the first round on October 15 while Windsor travel to Oxford City Nomads of the Hellenic Premier.
