SLOUGH Town FC chairman Steve Easterbrook urged supporters to 'refrain from entering criticism' after Myfootballclub (MyFC) were announced as the club's controversial new sponsors on Monday.

After selling its majority share of Ebbsfleet United, MyFC admitted it was 'not capable of running any football club remotely in an online environment.' However, this week is struck a two-year sponsorship deal with the Rebels.

The global society, which currently has around 1,000 paying members, now hopes to earn the trust of the club, fans and local community.

It is understood Slough Town FC was selected ahead of nine other clubs because it is financially stable, has realistic ambitions and that MyFC felt it could contribute toward Rebels' growth and sustainability.

Easterbrook insisted the online society are not looking to own the Holloways Park club, but he feels the sponsorship deal could lead to MyFC providing future financial support.

He said: "MyFC will not be seeking to gain commercial benefit from their sponsorship. The aim is to provide an experience for its members that keeps them interested in both parties, which will in turn increase their ability to provide further support.

"I very much hope Slough fans will welcome this relationship. MyFC are not, as they did with Ebbsfleet, looking to own a football club. They want to provide their members with updates and information so they can support Slough Town.

"Examples of what may be provided include manager and chairman updates and the filming of home games. Many other opportunities will be explored as the partnership develops.

"Anything that enhances MyFC members and Slough supporters' experiences will have a positive affect on the football club." Easterbrook also stressed: "Any changes will be gradual and for the benefit of the club and the fans. We're already experiencing change with the appointment of two young managers who regularly converse with supporters via social media.

"Greater involvement in the future will lead to fans and supporters feeling more involved - the season ahead is shaping up to be an exciting one.

"With MyFC now onboard, I can feel a real buzz of anticipation and honestly believe we will continue to grow our fanbase as a result of the partnership." The Rebels chairman added: "I'd like to think that Slough Town supporters will welcome this new relationship and can see the benefit and potential that it offers for the future. This is a unique opportunity from which we can grow the fanbase and increase the football club's profile.

"Adopting a positive approach is key and I would urge fans to allow the relationship to develop.

"There will undoubtedly be problems, but I'm confident we can overcome these.

"The relationship's success is in the club's and supporters' hands and I'd urge fans to be patient and refrain from entering into speculation or criticisms which may affect the partnership.

"I'm very confident we can make it work. It may take time but if we all concentrate on making it a success then Slough Town FC will prosper." **PICK up a copy of the Observer, out every Friday, for all the latest sports news and action** **FOLLOW the Observer on Twitter @Observer_sports**
