SLOUGH Heating FC boss Brett Pemberton is targeting the cup competitions for his side this season.

The reformed Stoke Poges outfit finished in fourth place in the East Berkshire Premier Division last year.

Slough also reached the League Cup semi-finals, where they suffered a controversial 3-2 defeat against The Lynchpin.

Pemberton says his side punched above their weight last season, but are hungry for trophies this time around.

Speaking to the Observer, he said: “Last year we literally started from scratch with just two players.

“Sting Sumner and I took over when the previous manager upped and left with the entire squad for pastures new.

“We probably punched above our weight at times, but what we achieved can be compared to winning the league.

“We went on a little unbeaten run, six wins and a draw, but then lost our last game just before Christmas.

“Then the bad weather hit and we didn’t play again until March, and that knocked the stuffering out of us really.

“Their is a good set-up and the chairman put faith in me when we had no team, and we finished quite strong.” Pemberton named Kevin Chakaodza as the star at Slough this year, and Chalvey (WMC) Sports as the top Premier side.

He added: “We’ve got a couple of new lads and will hold our own in the league, pushing for the top half.

“Most of the teams can all beat each other and I’ll be looking at a cup at least.

“We were robbed in the semi-finals by a very dubious decision last year, even the opposition stood still.” **TO BE a part of our East Berkshire League coverage e-mail Rob Stevens at rstevens@berksmedia.co.uk or call 01189 553328.** **FOLLOW the Observer on Twitter at @Observer_sports**
