SLOUGH Town FC have signed former Hereford United goalkeeper Luke Williams after the match at Histon was postponed on Saturday.

The Rebels’ Southern Premier Division fixture away at Histon was postponed after an inspection on the waterlogged pitch at Bridge Road.

The Rebels then host rival club and bottom of the table Burnham FC at Holloways Park next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Slough replaced keeper Jake Somerville with Williams on Sunday as they strive to improve performances and strengthen the squad.

A statement on the official club website read: “Williams, 19, came through the ranks at Aldershot Town before joining Hereford in the summer.

“He gained rave reviews for a number of outstanding performances and he was one that really impressed us at the time.

“With Hereford being wound-up Luke has become available and we are delighted to announce that he has agreed to come on board.

“The decision wasn’t easy as Jake is someone that we brought to Slough with high expectations, and we have worked with him for three years.

“However, we have been discussing his form with him for some time and his performances have not been at the levels that are required.

“It has been mutually agreed that Jake will go elsewhere for the rest of the season and look to recover his form and confidence.

“We wish Jake all the very best and will remain in contact with him as you never know what the future may hold in football.” Burnham FC did not have a Southern Premier fixture to fulfil on Saturday but travel to Poole Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).
