SLOUGH Town FC have been dealt a double blow ahead of their return to action in the Southern Premier Division.

The Rebels welcome top of the table Weymouth to Holloways Park tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm) and then rival club Burnham next Tuesday (7.45pm).

However, they have been stripped of the services of captain Jamie McClurg after a scan on his knee has revealed ligament damage.

Slough have also been caught in a dispute over new signing Luke Williams after it emerged that the keeper was under contract at Hereford United.

Rebels joint-boss Jon Underwood told the Observer: “Jamie has had a scan on his knee and the results are not terribly positive.

“We were not expecting it to be too serious but he has got ligament damage to his knee.

“I hope that it is not a full blown cruciate injury, we have already had two of those already.

“Jamie is going to see a specialist and get a second opinion, but he might be done for this season.

“Adrian Sear also picked up an ankle injury in training last Saturday which will rule him out of the match with Weymouth.” Underwood continued: “We agreed to sign Luke from Hereford who no longer exist, but he was under contract there which we did not know.

“The liquidators have held on to his contract and will not allow him to play for anyone else.

“We have spoken to them and they have agreed to terminate the contract, but have asked for 14 days notice.

“I am delighted to have him on board, he trained well on Saturday, and hopefully the liquidators will see sense this week (and allow him to play).” Underwood admits that Weymouth are his favourites to win the league, but does not expect things to be easy against bottom side Burnham either.

He commented: “I am sure that we will be considered favourites because Burnham are bottom of the league.

“They are scrapping for their lives and going through a lot of changes at the moment.

“Burnham are in a bit of a transitional stage and will be quite hard to read because we’re not sure exactly what they will have.

“They are not getting beat by many goals, and are staying in games. They have definitely got something about them.

“Burnham have been quite tight for a while so it will be a scrap from start to finish.

“I do not expect it to be any different than our meeting on the opening day of the season.” **PICK up a copy of the Observer, out now, for all the latest sports news and action including a Weymouth preview with Jon Underwood** **FOLLOW the Observer on Twitter at @Observer_sports**
