SLOUGH Town FC joint-boss Jon Underwood has urged supporters to ‘keep on believing’ as his team bid for a return to form.

The Rebels welcome Arlesey Town to Holloways Park this Saturday (3pm ko) without a win in their last four matches.

Slough have failed to score in each of their last three games including a 0-0 stalemate away at Histon on Tuesday.

Underwood believes that luck is not on their side at the moment and stressed they were the better team in midweek.

And he has backed The Rebels, boosted by three new signings this week, for a return to winning ways soon.

Underwood told The Observer: “We’ve only taken two points from our last four games and that’s not where we want to be.

“I thought that we would really push on from the win against Weymouth.

“The last two performances have been good and we have got to keep on believing.

“Arlesey were bottom of the league the last time we played them and it was a similar game to Histon.

“They defended for their lives that day and are scrapping for every point. The manager has left and they are going through a tough time.

“We just don’t know enough about the Arlesey situation to know whether or not it will improve or hurt them.

“On paper it’s one that we look to win but as we’ve already seen this season there are no guarantees.

“We have got to believe that one or two of the chances we are creating will go in soon.” Slough have signed a trio of midfielders this week, Daniel Brown and Gurkan Gokmen from Wealdstone (loan deals), and ex-Chesham United star Liam Malone.

The Rebels moved to strengthen their squad with four central midfield players all suffering with injury.

Underwood explained: “Adrian Sear has an ankle problem after he was injured in training.

“We keep thinking that we will have him back, but it’s taking longer and longer.

“We are hoping to have him available for selection this Saturday, but it may only be for the bench.

“Ben Edwards and George Short both have groin problems. Hopefully they will be ready in a week’s time.

“Jamie McClurg has a partial tear of the ACL in his knee. He’s been told it’s six-eight weeks so we’re looking at March.

“It’s not enough of a tear to need an operation so his rehab will involve strength work.” He added: “Daniel came in on Tuesday and did very well. We were very impressed with him as he slotted alongside Adam Martin.

“He may well go back to Wealdstone this weekend but we would certainly like to keep him.

“We’ve had to bring in numbers but it might just be short-term while we get players fit again.

“We’re happy with the squad that we’ve got but any club would suffer with that many injuries in one position.” Slough Town fans can hear more about their proposed new stadium at a Slough Borough Council planning meeting. It is one of the items up for discussion at the meeting, starting at 6.30pm at The Centre, in Farnham Road, on Tuesday.
