SLOUGH Town FC joint-boss Jon Underwood has backed his team to move forward after a 0-0 draw away at Histon on Tuesday.

The Rebels dominated at The Glass World Stadium but failed to score as Histon threw their bodies on the line for a point.

It is the third consecutive match that Slough have drawn a blank, and they are now four matches without a win.

However, Underwood was pleased with The Rebels’ performance in midweek and insists they are heading in the right direction.

He told The Observer: “It was a very frustrating game and I’m disappointed that we didn’t get the win.

“I’m really pleased with the performance on a difficult pitch that cut up quite a lot.

“We dominated the game from start to finish but that seems to be the way at the moment.

“Histon were clearly happy with a 0-0 draw and did whatever they could to run the clock down.

“Their goalkeeper (Enol Ordonez) was man of the match and we missed a couple of good chances.

“It was pretty routine stuff for Luke Williams. I could’ve played in goal for us and kept a clean sheet.

“There are lots of positives to take from the performance, but it was a game that we needed to win.” Underwood continued: “Histon weren’t a bad side and are unbeaten at home since August, but we controlled the game.

“We completely dominated the second half and even in the last few minutes had plenty of balls bouncing around the box.

“It just wouldn’t go for us and, in all levels of football, you sometimes get spells where this happens.

“Our strikers have excellent goal scoring records and we pride ourselves on that.

“We started to think that it wasn’t going to be our day in the second-half, but we’ve got belief in our players.

“But whatever the reason, luck just isn’t going our way at the moment, and it happens sometimes.

“We are going to play a lot worse than that and win a game of football this season.

“There wasn’t a lot wrong with the performance and we are heading in the right direction.” Slough return to Holloways Park this Saturday for the visit of relegation-threatened Arlesey Town (3pm ko).

The Rebels then travel to Chippenham Town on February 21.

In celebration of Valentines Day, The Rebels will be giving away free chocolate to the first 50 women through the turnstiles on Saturday. **PICK up a copy of the Observer, out now, for all the latest sports news and action including more from the interview with Jon Underwood** **FOLLOW the Observer on Twitter at @Observer_sports**
