FARNHAM ROYAL rally driver Sam Stefan and co-driver Stuart Andrews put on a show as they secured a fifth place finish at RAF Brawdy.

On a warm and windy day in West Wales the smell of the sea and burnt rubber was in the air with some fast straights leading to some thrilling action for the crowd, but narrow roads led to problems for some drivers.

The pair - representing Major Motorsport - had a reasonable start and after drivers became used to the broken road surface the times started to drop dramatically.

After the third stage of the course, Stefan and Andrews sat in third place on the leaderboard within their class, and were hoping for a podium position.

But in the final few kilometers of the fourth stage with the crowd and photographers almost falling on the track they hit a 90 degree turn which was under steered and led the pair to almost go in to the side of a bridge which cost valuable time.

The pair recovered and managed to finish the stage but in seventh with two stages to go.

With the sun shining and the wind really picking up for the conclusion of the rally, the fifth stage saw the two pick up valuable time on the front-runners, which by the end put them in fourth place ahead of the final stage.

However the pair were pipped into fifth in the rankings by just six seconds.
