SLOUGH Town FC lost their unbeaten start to the new season over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Rebels recovered from falling two-goals behind to draw 2-2 at Paulton Rovers on Saturday.

However, they then lost 3-0 to Chesham United at Holloways Park on Monday, meaning they have not beaten their rival club since 1999.

Second-half goals from Adam Cornell and Reece Yorke helped Rebels claim a point against Paulton at Winterfield Road.

The home side went ahead midway through the first-half when Yorke diverted the ball past keeper Jake Somerville and into his own net.

One became two on 28 minutes as John Davies picked up the ball in midfield and hit it low into the corner of the net.

Slough pushed forward in the second period and pulled a goal back on 65 minutes.

The lively Cornell, who replaced injured striker Edward Smith early in the half, headed into the net following a cross from Alex Witham.

And just three minutes later the away side were back on level terms when the unmarked Yorke headed home a James Dobson corner.

In truth, a draw was probably a fair result, but Chesham did more than enough to maintain their formidable run against Slough on Monday.

The Rebels’ unbeaten start to life in the Southern Premier Division came to an end at a wet Holloways Park.

Chesham cranked up the pressure late in the first-half and took the lead three minutes before the break.

Ryan Laville chipped the ball over the advancing Somerville despite pressure from defender Guy Hollis.

Laville was a threat again early in the second period when his shot came back off the frame of the goal.

Slough did threaten when Cornell rose to connect with a Dobson corner, but the ball skimmed the post on its way wide of the goal.

Chesham made The Rebels pay on the hour mark as Laville was on hand to double his own tally after neat interplay with Ashley Smith.

Just two minutes later the visitors added a third goal, Simon Thomas holding off Yorke and supplying the finish.

Chesham could have added to their tally late on but Thomas fired a penalty kick well over the crossbar in the dying minutes.

Slough welcome Histon to Holloways Park tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm ko).
