BURNHAM Joggers celebrated a successful season during their annual dinner dance awards night at Burnham Cricket Club.

Since November last year there have been many achievements including the club’s fastest marathon time of three hours, five minutes and 20 seconds.

Nigel Sullivan set the record at the Abingdon Marathon in October and his amazing progress saw him win the club championship award.

Sullivan was also named rising star for Over 35s after recording a personal best in the 5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon runs.

Twenty-five members ran at least one marathon this season.

And the extraordinary Jenny Zaremba completed the London, Edinburgh and Dublin marathons.

Rachel Sammes won the ladies championship and cross country titles, while Ben Schiffer-Harte took the men’s cross country award.

Schiffer-Harte and Sullivan helped Burnham Joggers gain the team award at the Stockley Park 10k back in May.

Liz Bemment took home the Under 35s rising star trophy for competing in two marathons and being a consistent runner this year.

Chris Firman won the Staggered Jog Shield which is presented for constantly beating your 10k personal best throughout the season.

Louise Davies was Burnham Joggers’ highest charity fundraiser and was rewarded with the Bob Geldof Award - presented by the musician and fundraiser many years ago.

John Davies was named clubman of the year having given up his spare time to help the club, despite being injured for most of the season.

Other achievements this year include Patricia Keene, John Gilpin and Pete Walker running marathons and the Lakeland 50-mile race.

Derek Wilkins ran three half marathons in three weeks including the Blenheim Half back in October, where he took a team of 10 members.

Nell Neale won her age category at the Purple Patch Water of Like 10k, and Dave Thomas passed his 250th Park Run.

Over 500 people participated at the club-organised Cliveden Cross Country, and 501 runners took part in the 34th Burnham Beeches Half Marathon.

More than 400 members completed the second Beaconsfield five-mile trail, and Tasmin Neale finished sixth in the Triathlon European Championships.

Burnham Joggers also held a very successful 5k beginners course. Anyone interested in joining the club should visit www.burnhamjoggers.org.uk.
