Stow-on-the Wold 10, Slough 10
SLOUGH Rugby Club suffered their first draw of the season against Stow-on-the-Wold on Saturday.
The dropped point sees them fall even further behind league-leaders Wallingford, who beat Slough in a key title decider last week.
The visitors opened the scoring after fifteen minutes when a Stow knock-on was recycled to James O'Reilly. The fly-half circled round to the blind side, made good ground and fed winger Ben Lydgate who scored just fifteen metres to the left of the posts.
Four minutes later Slough doubled their lead when James O'Reilly fed Lydgate again. This time the winger was stopped fifteen metres short of the line but the ball was quickly recycled to put Danny O'Reilly over for another unconverted try.
Stow had a slight wind advantage in their favour in the second half and pulled the score back to 10-7 after just ten minutes of a play.
The referee awarded a penalty try after Slough were deemed to have illegally halted a scrum five yards from their line. The conversion from under the posts was easily slotted.
Stow levelled matters on 60 minutes after converting a penalty for a Slough offside.
James O'Reilley missed his own penalty opportunity and declined an opportunity to go for the posts in the closing stages.
Instead Slough chose to kick for the corner and drove over the line, but the referee was unable to see a grounding and did not award a try.
SLOUGH: Connor, Khan, Fenwick, Storey, P Scott, Oosthuizen, Edwards, D Rendall, N Rastelli, J O'Reilly, Lydgate, Inskip, King, D O'Reilly, George. SUBS: Lewis, Holland, Burns
