RUGBYFORCE 2016 was supported by 20 volunteers from various sections at Slough Rugby Club and staff from NatWest for the annual workday.

Jobs including weeding, varnishing and cleaning kept the work party busy and, though small in number, the team had a very productive day.

The group managed to complete quite a sizeable to-do list before settling down for a ploughman’s lunch that was provided by the club.

NatWest RugbyForce is a nationwide programme developed in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) to help make clubs stronger businesses by improving and renovation their facilities with the support of members and the community.

PREPARATIONS are well under way for a fantastic celebration of sevens rugby as Slough welcome friends both old and new on Saturday, July 9.

A number of teams have confirmed their participation this year including Apache Braves, ISC tornados, Bucks, Cobras, Reeds Weybridge, Olafs Axes, Oxfam Crusaders, Royal Navy Sharks, Smugglers and Racing Academy in the elite competition.

The beer competition will see 16 teams got to-to-toe such as Slough Dragons, High Wycombe Green Dragons, Hugh Gumbs Green Army, Buckingham Rangers and Drifters.

The junior competition will be contested by Slough Spartans, two Rosslyn Park teams, Maidenhead Stags, Redingensians Rams and Windsor.

This year is expected to be the biggest-ever Slough Sevens tournament.

NICK Hoon has been named as new chairman at Slough Rugby Club following an Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Ben Harris is now director of rugby with Mark Casey the new vice-chairman.

Other officers and committee members remain the same with vacancies for sponsorship and advertising.
