STAR striker Edward Smith inspired Slough Town FC to a 3-0 win at Potters Bar Town on Saturday.

Smith set-up Johnnie Dyer, and then scored either side of half-time, as Rebels blew away Potters Bar with some superb attacking football on a very heavy pitch at Parkfield.

After the victory, Slough’s sixth in succession, joint-boss Jon Underwood tweeted: “Fantastic professional performance from our lads today. Difficult pitch but we were magnificent.

“Easy to manage our boys at the minute. Whoever we pick does a great job and whoever is left on the bench shows a great attitude.” Slough remain on course for the Division One Central play-offs and hope to carry that confidence into their midweek fixture at home to Egham Town tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm ko).

Beaconsfield SYCOB face an uphill battle to reach the end-of-season finale after a 1-0 defeat to Chertsey Town.

Drifters went down 22-7 at High Wycombe, though they remain confident of a good end to the season in Southern Counties North.

They tweeted: “We’re confident especially as the last five games are all winable. Saturday hurt a lot but we believe we can win our last five.” In Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier, they were home defeats for Farnham Royal - 32-26 against Chipping Norton - and Phoenix, who lost to champions Tadley 92-3.

Slough Jets’ play-offs dream appears to be in tatters after consecutive defeats against Basingstoke Bison last weekend.

Jets lost 6-2 on the road on Saturday, and then 4-2 at The Hangar on Sunday, leaving them bottom of the English Premier Ice Hockey League.
