PETER Jasik hit four goals as the Slough Jets thrashed rock bottom Romford Raiders 12-1 on Saturday.

He set the tone for the night just 1.38 in when he put the home team ahead. Slough dominated the first period, conceding just four shots on goal, and Blaz Emersic (5.22) and Dan Davies (12.37) made it 3-0, before Darius Plikausaus made it 3-1 with Romford's only goal at 13.49.

The second period saw the Jets rack up another three to put the game safe by the next interval. A fast paced period saw Jasik net his second at 25.12 and Ryan Watt score at 33.12, before Jasik completed his hat-trick at 35.46 while the game was yet to see a penalty called.

Slough doubled their goal tally in the third period, with Jasik scoring his fourth of the night two minutes in. Watt scored his second at 44.37 and Michael Bowman then made it 9-1 at 46.31.

Ciaran Long scored a shorthanded goal for the home team while they were killing the game's only penalty ay 49.31, before Emersic scored his second at 54.46 and Slava Koulikov netted the final goal of the game at 58.04.

Slough had swapped netminders and debutant Joe Myers played out the final 15.23 dealing confidently with the five shots he faced.

Myers was signed just before the weekend from Romford and head coach Pete Russell commented: "Joe is good lad. I knew him when I was in Cardiff. He was back up for the Devils the last two years before moving to Romford.

"Things didn't work out for him there and I am glad he has come to us and his signing gives us a capable back again. Hopefully Joe will work hard and this fresh start will get him going again."

Although the Jets will not have the services of Carl Thompson on a full-time basis for the remainder of the campaign.

Thompson confirmed: "Its been difficult for me juggling work, studying and hockey this season and felt like I needed to make a change. After my drink and chat with Pete to discuss it all I'm happy that we've reached agreement on me going part time.

"It means I still get to be part of the team but will not be training or playing as much. I wish the team the best for the games I won't be there for."

Russell added: "I think Carl is a bigger man for admitting this and a smart man as he is building a strong future for himself.

"But I didn't want him to quit as he is a Slough lad and a lovely guy, so we managed to come up with something to keep him involved with the team.

"Carl will be training once a week and playing when we need him (if he is available)."

The Jets completed an excellent weekend with a 2-1 triumph at the Sheffield Scimitars on Sunday.

Both teams started by exchanging powerplays when Slough gave away a two man advantage and Sheffield followed with a one man penalty kill, but it was back at even strength when Peter Jasik opened the scoring for the visitors at 7.47.

Little could separate the teams but it was Jasik's goal that was the difference at the end of the first period.

The Jets were penalty killing again early in the second and, despite 23 shots on goal in the period, the only other entry to the scoresheet was Sheffield's penalty with 12 seconds remaining.

The third period saw 23 more shots on goal and, despite Sheffield conceding another penalty, the game looked to be progressing to overtime after Matt Haywood equalised at 53.21, when Ryan Watt stepped up with the game winner at 58.59.

Sheffield called a time-out with just five seconds remaining and played the remainder of the game with an empty net, but Slough closed the game out to secure the victory.
