SLOUGH Town suffered a narrow and controversial 2-1 defeat at Kings Lynn Town in the Southern Premier Division on Saturday.

Rebels thought they would return from Norfolk with a draw but a late Warren Harris header was ruled out for a foul on Alex Street.

Harris nodded the ball into the empty net, but he was denied by an extremely generous foul on the Kings Lynn keeper.

Slough started badly as Liam Hurst gave the home team the perfect start on six minutes.

Hurst chested the ball down and curled in a superb shot on the volley, which flew past Mark Scott and into the top corner.

Rebels fought back to level the scores on 14 minutes, a goal that was a gift from the hosts.

A breakdown in communication allowed Charlie Mpi the easy job of running the ball into an empty net.

Kings Lynn were back in front on 65 minutes as substitute Matthew Castellan powered a diving header into the bottom corner.

Harris' effort was ruled out and though Slough committed numbers forward in search of a goal, Kings Lynn held on for the win.

Slough travel to Frome Town in an FA Trophy second qualifying round tie this Saturday (3pm).

In Southern Division One South & West, Burnham recorded a much-needed 5-1 win over Bashley at The Gore.

Carl Foster gave Bashley an early lead, but Tre Mitford and Andrew Harewood were on target for The Blues before half-time.

Mitford and Joe Maloney were amongst the second-half scorers.
