SLOUGH Town have been named Team of the Month in the Southern Premier Division following an excellent October.

Rebels won five, drew one and lost one of their seven league matches last month, climbing up the table to eighth after a difficult start to the season.

Joint-boss Neil Baker said: “Hopefully this will prove not to be a poisoned chalice. However, the lads have to take full credit for the turnaround in results and I think it’s well deserved.

“It’s an excellent achievement in what is a very tough league with some big sides in it. We now need to build on it and push on again in November and December.”

However, Slough suffered a controversial 2-1 defeat away at Kings Lynn Town in their first match of November.

Rebels thought they would leave Norfolk with a point when Warren Harris nodded the ball into an empty net late in the game.

However, his effort was ruled out as the referee ruled that Scott Harris had fouled keeper Alex Scott in trying to head the ball.

Baker said: “I just don’t think we were quite at the races. The lads worked hard and there can be no accusations of not putting the effort in. I just don’t think we were quite at it.

“Kings Lynn weren’t bad. They moved the ball around quickly, they had good movement going forward and they caused us problems, but I just don’t think we won enough first and second balls all over the park if I’m brutally honest.

“We did have spells where we were on top, but I don’t think we created loads of chances, so it was a disappointing day for us.”

Slough turn their attention towards the FA Trophy and a second qualifying round tie away at Frome Town this Saturday (3pm).
