SLOUGH have been eliminated from the Red Insure Cup this season following a 4-1 penalty shoot-out defeat away at Potters Bar Town on Tuesday evening.

The third round tie ended in a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes before Potters Bar keeper Ben Goode made himself an instant hero by saving four penalties in the resulting shoot-out.

Slough took the lead early on at Parkfield when Lee Barney chased down Goode, blocked the clearance and got to the ball first to slot it home from a tight angle.

The home team drew level on 38 minutes when Sean Grace found space in the middle of the box and fired past keeper Mark Scott.

The Rebels restored their lead before the break as a cross from Warren Harris was turned in by Barney for his second goal of the night.

Slough could have added another early on in the second period but the ball was cleared off the line from a corner kick.

Potters Bar levelled the scores at 2-2 late in normal time when Ashley Nathanial-George broke into the box and poked the ball past Scott.

Slough went first in the penalty shoot-out but Ryan Hope saw his kick saved by Goode. Chris Doyle scored for Potters Bar.

Goode then saved a strike at goal from Scott Harris before Dave Lawrence netted for the home team.

Substitute Ed Smith gave The Rebels a way back into the contest though Joe Bennett was quick to restore the two-goal advantage.

Goode then made a fourth save, this time to deny Charlie Mpi, and Potters Bar scored the next penalty to progress into the fourth round of the competition.
