SLOUGH Borough Council have issued a positive bulletin with regards to the progress on construction at the Arbour Park site.

The brand new Arbour Park Community Sports Facility, to include a new stadium for Slough Town, will be built at a cost of over £12 million.

Construction work began in December and Councillor Martin Carter believes they are on track to deliver for the start of the 2016/17 season.

He told the Observer this week: “The timescales for the development of the CSF have been driven by the necessity to provide an FA and FIFA compliant facility for the start of the 2016/17 season.

“I am delighted to say phase one of the facility is on track to deliver this. Work to build the CSF is well under way.

“The archaeological works are complete, the site preparations works are under way, designs for the hoardings are being prepared, and the opening arrangements for phases one and two are being prepared.

“Funding for phase two of the CSF to include a 160 seating capacity function room and first floor accommodation of the main stand was approved by members earlier this month, and will start without interrupting the opening of the overall facility in August 2016.

“We have always been committed to the idea of building a quality, modern, multi-functional community sports facility that local people can be proud of.

“I am certain that on completion Slough residents and local schools will have a great place to do sport and physical exercise.

“This is just one more step in our improvements to leisure facilities for the next generation.”

A statement from Slough Town said: “We are delighted that the project is progressing to plan and look forward to the start of the new season, a new home and the start of a new chapter for the club.”
