SLOUGH Town recorded a win in their final home match of the season after a 2-0 victory over King’s Lynn Town on Saturday.

Lee Barney scored twice to help The Rebels to success in what could be their final fixture at Holloways Park ahead of a summer move back to the borough.

Slough started the better but King’s Lynn came closest to scoring early on when John Sands hit the post with a good strike from outside the area.

Liam Hurst went closer as his attempted lob from the edge of the area was cleared off the line by Warren Harris.

Against the run of play, The Rebels opened the scoring on 31 minutes when Barney coolly slipped the ball through the legs of keeper Alex Street.

Nathan Webb was unfortunate not to double the advantage in the second-half as his effort was ruled out for offside.

King’s Lynn increased the pressure late on but Slough made them pay for their missed chances with Barney adding a second goal two minutes into time added on.

The forward finished from close range after Lewis Putman beat his man and pulled the ball back across goal.

The win sees The Rebels remain in 16th position in the Southern Premier Division table ahead of their final match of the season away at Merthyr Town this Saturday.

Burnham will be relegated from Southern Division One South & West should they fail to beat Didcot Town at The Gore this Tuesday evening.

The Blues won 2-0 at bottom-of-the-table and already relegated Bashley on Saturday with first-half goals from Michael Gorniak and Abdul Ally.

However, third-from-bottom Wantage Town thrashed Bishops Cleeve 7-1 meaning Burnham are still five points from safety with two matches remaining.

The Blues welcome Bridgwater Town this Saturday while Wantage head to Tiverton Town.

Maidenhead United suffered another blow to their chances of reaching the National South play-offs this season following a 0-0 draw at Wealdstone on Saturday.

The result means that United must win at either Weston-super-Mare this Saturday or at home to Concord Rangers on April 30 to have any chance of finishing in the top-five.
