GUY Hollis was the star of the show at the Slough Town FC annual awards night.

The popular Rebels centre-back walked away with four trophies after an outstanding campaign in the heart of defence.

The presentation evening took place at Holloways Park following Slough’s 2-0 home win over King’s Lynn Town last Saturday.

Hollis, fresh from helping Rebels keep a clean sheet, picked up his first award when he was named Players’ Player of the Season.

That was quickly followed by the Managers’ Player of the Season, chosen by joint-bosses Jon Underwood and Neil Baker.

If that was not enough, Hollis was also named the MyFC Player of the Season.

He then secured his fourth accolade by taking the Supporters’ Player of the Season trophy with a massive 60% of the fans’ vote. Lewis Putman was runner up with 14%.

Underwood paid tribute to his star defender, saying: “Guy has been consistent all season.

“We have had him with us for five years now, first at Godalming and now Slough.

“This has been his best season.

“He has had a lot going on away from football that could have prevented him from playing at his best, so to play the way he has is a real testament to him.

“He thoroughly deserves his awards, he is massive for us.”

He added: “Guy is still relatively young, but he has good experience and bundles of games under his belt.

“We have got a few players like that now, not with youth on their side but not old either and with plenty of experience.

“We want pace and strength and that is what we will be looking for next year.”

But Hollis was not the only winner on the awards night.

Ryan Hope, Slough’s hugely promising 19-year-old midfielder, scooped the Managers’ Young Player of the Season trophy.

Fan Adrian Gomm was also honoured for his excellent work on Rebels Radio by winning the Chris Sliski Memorial Trophy for clubman of the year, given in memory of Slough’s late and dedicated supporter, who died in 2012.

In addition, goalkeeper Mark Scott was honoured for keeping nine clean sheets so far this season.

Finally, the Golden Boot award for most goals scored in a season will not be decided until after Slough’s final fixture this Saturday when they travel to South Wales to face Merthyr Town (3pm ko).

Meanwhile, chairman, Steve Easterbrook, highlighted the huge strides Rebels have made in recent years.

“To have achieved what we have over the past decade is, in my opinion, quite outstanding,” he declared.

“Ten years ago this club had no home, one team, no money and were heading for the Combined Counties League.

“Now we can finally look forward to the future with confidence.”
