TO CELEBRATE the completion and handover of phase one at Arbour Park, Slough Borough Council is holding a five-a-side football tournament this Friday (1pm).

The teams will be made up of players from organisations that include the council, Slough Town Football Club, Morgan Sindall and Arvato.

The event will mark the end of an exciting phase which has seen the completion of the ground floor of the main accommodation block, 3G pitch and north, south and east stands.

This is the first part of a great new community sports stadium that, when complete, will include the upper floor to the main accommodation block, complete with main grandstand and achieve a ground capacity of 1,950 spectators.

Arbour Park will also include a new four-court sports hall and refurbishment works for St Josephs school.

The completion of phase two is estimated to be delivered in spring 2017.

The tournament is not open to the public, but Slough Town are expected to officially mark their long-awaited homecoming with a Southern Premier Division fixture against Hayes & Yeading United on Monday August 29.
