SLOUGH Town picked up their fourth point from two Southern Premier matches with a 0-0 home draw against Stratford Town on Tuesday night.

The home stalemate at Holloways Park made it an unbeaten week for the Rebels, who won 3-2 at Kings Langley on Saturday.

Slough may have left frustrated after failing to score past Stratford, but it was another step in the right direction for Jon Underwood and Neil Baker’s men.

The first half was low on excitement on Tuesday night as Rebels failed to really test Neil Cooper in the visitor’s goal.

When Cooper was called into action, he comfortably saved a Charlie Moone effort before Daniel Summerfield blocked a shot from James Dobson.

Slough breathed a sigh of relief midway through the half when they survived a penalty appeal, but Mark Scott was a virtual spectator in the home team’s goal.

But for all their good build-up play, Slough struggled to find a breakthrough after Warren Harris and Dobson both had shots cleared in the Stratford six yard box.

The theme continued as Lee Barney fired straight at Cooper from a dangerous position.

It took Stratford until the 68th minute to really test Scott who was equal to a snapshot from Barry Fitzharris.

Rebels’ stopper was also in the right place to keep out a Jamie Sheldon strike soon afterwards.

Slough Observer:

Slough captain Sean Fraser: “It was just unfortunate we couldn’t put the ball in the net. The good thing is we are creating chances and hopefully we will take them in the next game.”

Slough threw on Lewis Putman and Gavin James in the latter stages in a bid to snatch a winner.

But, with Stratford’s defence sitting ever deeper, Harris could only fire into the side netting.

Simon Dunn’s thunderbolt was then bravely blocked and Putman was inches away from glory when his stoppage-time free-kick struck the angle of post and bar to sum up Slough’s day.

Slough skipper Sean Fraser said: “It was very frustrating. We created a lot of chances and there was a lot of action in their box.

“It was just unfortunate we couldn’t put the ball in the net. The good thing is we are creating chances and hopefully we will take them in the next game.”

Earlier, Rebels celebrated a memorable victory at Kings Langley on Saturday after coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

The visitors fell behind on 15 minutes when Lewis Toomey expertly converted an Immanuelson Duku cross.

Rebels were also forced to make a change soon after when Brad Hewitt succumbed to an illness, with Josh Jackman coming on for his Slough debut.

When Toomey grabbed his second of the day with a smart finish on 27 minutes, the visitors were facing a mountain to climb.

But Rebels pulled a vital goal back five minutes later when Simon Dunn headed home from a Guy Hollis nod-back from a Dobson corner.

And within three minutes of that the visitors made it 2-2 when a Harris cross reached Dobson who beat home keeper Xavi Comas from the edge of the area.

As chances came thick and fast, both Dunn and Josh Chamberlain went close for Slough, while Duku’s effort was scrubbed out for offside at the other end.

But Slough did snatch a winner seven minutes before the end when Moone headed Dobson’s free-kick into the far corner to seal a super comeback.

Slough host St Ives Town at Holloways Park this Saturday (3pm). Both clubs have picked up seven points from four matches with two wins, a draw and a defeat, though seventh-placed Slough are ahead in the table on superior goal difference.
