SLOUGH Town fought back from falling two goals behind to draw 2-2 at Merthyr Town in the FA Trophy second qualifying round on Saturday.

The two teams will replay the tie at Arbour Park on Tuesday (7.30pm) with the winners drawn at home to Wingate & Finchley on Saturday November 26.

Slough were unfortunate not to take the lead at Penydarren Park when Ashley Evans cleared off the line from Simon Dunn, before Lee Togwell hit the post.

Merthyr broke the deadlock on eight minutes as Josh Yorweth was left un-marked at an Ian Traylor corner and headed powerfully past Mark Scott.

The home team scored again six minutes before the half-time interval when Kayne McLaggon struck a 20-yard shot over Scott and into the net.

A different Slough emerged for the second half and Charlie Moone, a half-time replacement for Warren Harris, pulled a goal back in the 71st minute. The striker headed in a deep cross from James Dobson.

The Rebels levelled the tie through another set piece five minutes later. Dobson was fouled by Yorwerth and, from 20-yards, whipped the resulting free-kick across the wall and into the far corner.

Merthyr then suffered a blow when their captain, Ashley Evans, was sent off for retaliation after Dobson had fouled him.

Following the FA Trophy replay in midweek, Slough return to action in the Southern Premier Division with a visit to Arbour Park from Kings Langley this Saturday (3pm).

Maidenhead United have been drawn at home to Wealdstone in the FA Trophy third qualifying round.
