SLOUGH Town won their first match of the New Year in incredible fashion when beating Leamington 6-0 on Saturday.

The Rebels ended a run of four straight defeats as Chris Flood bagged a hat-trick at the Phillips 66 Community Stadium.

Slough gave a debut to Manny Williams, who has joined the club on a one-month loan deal, and new signing Ashan Holgate started from the bench.

Nathan Smart replaced the suspended Guy Hollis in central defence.

Leamington started the match top of the table and were first to attack with a header blocked in the goalmouth after a corner on seven minutes.

The Rebels took the lead with a contender for Goal of the Season on 14 minutes. Nathan Webb found Flood and he curled a shot into the corner of the goal giving Tony Breeden no chance.

Slough doubled their advantage just four minutes later as Gavin James held the ball up on the edge of the box before firing past the Leamington keeper.

The hosts were reduced to 10-men when striker Ryan Rowe was shown a straight red card for a push on Webb as tempers flared between the two sets of players.

The Rebels made the extra man count with a third goal in the 37th minute. Flood was left unmarked at the far post and headed a Simon Dunn free-kick over Breeden.

Flood was unfortunate not to complete a hat-trick early on in the second-half when his effort from a Sean Fraser cross was cleared off the line.

However, the Slough striker did complete the treble on 68 minutes. Webb crossed from the by-line and Flood steered the ball in at the near post.

Jack Edwards was shown a second yellow card for a foul in the build-up to the goal, leaving Leamington four goals behind and down to nine men.

New signing Holgate was then introduced as a substitute and it took him just four minutes to score, tapping-in a cross from Dunn.

Slough added a sixth goal to complete the rout on 84 minutes. Substitute Charlie Moone passed to Dunn for an easy finish.

The victory is the Rebels' biggest since August 2015 and means they move back up into the Southern Premier Division play-off places.

Slough are away to Kings Lynn Town on Tuesday (7.45pm) before hosting Dunstable Town at Arbour Park on Saturday (3pm).
