SLOUGH Town completed a hat-trick of wins in the Southern Premier Division with a 4-3 victory away at Cambridge City.

The Rebels had to work hard for their reward on Saturday with Cambridge disappointed not to have got something from the game at Westwood Road.

Slough gave their hosts all manner of headaches with their slick and controlled football and it was no real surprise that they went in front on 11 minutes.

A sweet strike from just outside the area by Simon Dunn gave Dean Snedker no chance in the City goal.

The Rebels doubled their lead just past the half hour. Snedker was equal to a low drive from James Dobson, but the ball ran loose and Gavin James was on hand to tap home.

Cambridge’s head could easily have dropped but they forced their way back into contention with a well placed Ross Paterson effort that found its way inside the post.

Slough were rocking early on in the second half but found the perfect antidote by opening up their two-goal advantage again. Chris Flood cracked the ball home having been given far too much room.

City were given the chance to salvage something from the game when the referee pointed to the spot for handball with 15 minutes left. Salim Relizani stepped up and sent keeper Mark Scott the wrong way.

Cambridge pushed for the leveller but in doing so left themselves far too open and the Rebels took advantage with Warren Harris arriving at the far post to volley into the roof of the net.

The home side were not finished though and three minutes into stoppage time Jordan Gent popped up to guide the ball home.

The goal set up a grandstand finish but Slough held on to secure all three points and remain fifth in the league table.

Slough welcome second-placed Merthyr Town to Arbour Park this Saturday (3pm).
