SLOUGH Town have reached the second round proper of the FA Cup this season after an incredible 6-0 win away at Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.

Matthew Lench was the star performer as his hat-trick, his second treble in two matches, helped The Rebels to a comfortable win over their higher-league opposition.

Lench gave Slough a one-goal lead heading into the half-time interval at Northolme, and the midfielder doubled the advantage less than a minute into the second period.

Strikers Chris Flood and Manny Williams both scored to put the Southern Premier Division club in dreamland, before Sean Fraser came off the substitutes bench to make it five.

Lench then completed his hat-trick to put the icing on the cake in the first round tie and stun National League North club Gainsborough.

It is the first time Slough have reached the second round proper since the 2004-05 season, when they lost 3-1 at home to Yeading.

The draw for the second round will be live on the BBC at 7pm on Monday and take place between December 1-4.

The Rebels, who are now unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions, travel to Maldon & Tiptree in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy on Saturday, November 11.
