SLOUGH Town have progressed into the semi-finals of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup after a 3-2 win away at Bracknell Town on Tuesday.

The Rebels recovered from falling a goal behind to win the quarter-final tie at Larges Lane and are the first club to reach the semi-finals this season.

A goal from TJ Bohane gave Hellenic Premier Division club Bracknell the lead on 11 minutes, before Slough striker Chris Flood struck twice to put the visitors ahead at the break.

The returning Josh Jackman extended the lead further seven minutes after the restart with his third goal of the season, before Seb Bowerman pulled one back eight minutes from the final whistle.

Slough joint-manager Jon Underwood told the Observer: “It was a really positive night to be honest and I was pleased with the performance.

“Bracknell started really well and we knew they would. They started with a lot of energy and made things difficult for us.

“It took us 15 minutes to settle into the game, and we found ourselves a goal behind, but once we did settle we created chances and were worthy winners in the end.

“One of the disappointing things is that we weren’t ruthless enough in terms of putting the game to bed. We weren’t nervous in the last 15 minutes but missed some opportunities to put the game to bed.

“That’s something to improve on, but I’m generally happy with some very good individual performances.

“Bracknell started how we expected, full of energy and closing us down, but once we got going we were in control of the game.

“The scoreline was not a reflection of the game because I felt we were a bit more comfortable than that.

“I’m pleased with the win and we’re into the semi-finals now.”

Underwood is a former Bracknell player and continued: “I had some great times at Bracknell and have a lot of friends there, like former players, and it was good to come up against them.

“We wanted the boys to put in a good performance and show what a good side we are because when you play teams from a level or two below in the cup they tend to raise their game.

“Bracknell are a very good side and could certainly cope in the level above, but it is about getting out of the league you’re in, and it’s tough to do that.”

Looking further ahead in the competition, he added: “We would like to be at home in the semi-finals, we always like to be at home, and the majority of sides left in the competition are below us terms of the level they play at.

“The Berks & Bucks Cup is less of a priority than the league, but we only have the semi-final to fit in now because the final will probably be played after our last league game.”
