SLOUGH Town have suffered a second defeat in three matches in the Southern Premier Division when losing 1-0 against Banbury United on Saturday.

A goal from Ricky Johnson on 66 minutes secured all three points for Banbury at Arbour Park.

The defeat means Slough have fallen on place to sixth position in the league table and one point behind the play-off spots.

Rebels joint-manager Neil Baker told the Observer: “It is disappointing to get beat at home but it’s the first time we’ve not scored at home in the league this season.

“You’ve got to give credit to Banbury because they came with a gameplan to upset us. They frustrated us and stopped us from scoring but I don’t think they deserved to win.

“Banbury restricted us but didn’t have more opportunities and a draw would have been a fair reflection on the game.

“Banbury are a big, strong side and we competed with them but just could not score. It’s frustrating but you have to give credit to Banbury.”

He added: “Some people might say that our home form isn’t great and it might not be championship winning form, but it’s not terrible.”

Slough suffered further frustration when the match at Biggleswade Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Carlsberg Stadium on Tuesday.

Baker bemoaned: “To be honest, I would rather had it postponed early on rather than gone up their again. The forecast was for more rain it is what it is.

“It’s frustrating and another problem for us, but we’ve just got to keep on going and keep our heads up.”

Slough make the journey to fourth from bottom Kings Langley this Saturday (3pm), who held the Rebels to a 1-1 draw at Arbour Park on January 30.

Baker said: “Kings Langley worked hard for a draw at our place and are in a decent run of form.

“It definitely will not be easy and hopefully there will be no more rain so the game is on.

“Hopefully the weather is good so we can get the game on because if we lose one more we will be into playing three games a week. It is frustrating but unfortunately it’s just one of those situations.

“The FA Cup has had had an impact on games but, where Hereford have been able to play we seem to be on a pitch that can’t hold a lot of water.”

Fellow Slough joint-manager Jon Underwood added: “Kings Langley played well against us and have a good record against the top five or six sides. They’ve frustrated us and Kings Lynn Town so can’t be taken lightly.

“We’ve got to start winning these games because we can’t keep on dropping points.”
